Y’all, the world is truly a small place! As most of you know, I am originally from Seattle, Washington. Specifically, I grew up in Issaquah, which is about 20-30 minutes east of Seattle proper. A few months ago, I received an inquiry from a familiar name…and it was from one of my old high school friends, Mandy! She moved to Durham right before the pandemic started, and then had her sweet baby boy at the beginning of the pandemic. Like many people, it was a difficult year to get pictures and to get together with family. Now that vaccines have rolled out, the grandparents from both sides were able to visit and celebrate their grandson’s first birthday! It was truly a special occasion and I had a ton of fun capturing all the joy and love from this sweet celebration! First birthdays are truly a special milestone to celebrate! I had the honor of working with Zepel family again, and we had such a great time photographing Olivia’s first birthday! :) She was such a delight and I loved how she would mimic her parents (like during peek-a-boo!). She also loves reading time, and it was so cute to see her go through her books and pull them off the shelf! I think my favorite part of the whole shoot was seeing her do the cake smash. She took a small taste first then went all in and put the whole cake in her face! It was HILARIOUS and we couldn’t stop laughing! :) Enjoy seeing some more special moments from this precious first birthday! Happy birthday again, Olivia!

Baby B celebrated her first birthday recently, and we had such a blast capturing this precious milestone at the UNC Coker Arboretum in Chapel Hill! She was ALL smiles and showed so much curiosity and energy. My favorite moment was capturing her cake smash! She was SO eager to dig into the cake even before her dad put the cake down! :) She showed no hesitation to eat cake, and thoroughly enjoyed it! See more of my favorite highlights below!
