An Intimate Wedding Ceremony | Raleigh Wedding Photographer

I had the wonderful honor of capturing Cassandra and Blake’s intimate wedding ceremony earlier this month! Like many brides and grooms, they’ve been planning for months for their spring wedding, but had to rearrange their plans due to COVID-19. They decided to hold a very small, intimate wedding ceremony on their original wedding date and postpone their larger gathering in the fall for family and friends. Fortunately their wedding venue, Merrimon-Wynne House, was able to still let them hold their intimate wedding ceremony! It included only their parents, officiant, first witness, and me (who had the honor of acting as a second witness!). The ceremony took place on the lawn and we made sure to practice good social distancing. Blake set up his camera to stream their wedding on Facebook Live so their family and friends could watch—it was so sweet and thoughtful! I also loved that he also used his GoPro as a backup to record their wedding (I’m all about backups, too!). After the ceremony, we signed the wedding certificate and took a few portraits to remember this special day.

If you have a wedding coming up and desire to get married on your original wedding date, consider hosting a very small, intimate ceremony on your original wedding date and hosting the reception at a later date. I’d be more than happy to be your photographer as well as your second witness, too :) Congrats again, Cassandra and Blake, and can’t wait to celebrate y’all again in a few months!

Celebrating Love During COVID-19 | Durham Wedding Photographer

Have you had to cancel, postpone, or figure out an alternate plan for an event due to COVID-19? I know many people, including myself, have had to do so! My dear friends, Chris and Juliet, had to postpone their original wedding plans to the fall, but we were able to have a very private, intimate wedding ceremony earlier this spring. It was close to their original wedding date, and included just their family. I was truly honored to be able to capture this beautiful wedding especially during this interesting and unique moment in history! The images I captured were taken with my portrait lenses, which allowed me to be more than 6 feet away from everyone. Besides the frequent hand sanitizing we were all doing, the precautions we were all taking didn’t take away the JOY of the day! Congrats, Juliet and Chris, and may God bless your marriage!

P.S. If you’re wondering about the portrait photos towards the end with Juliet holding a phone, those were images of her sister and her family. They couldn’t join us for the wedding, but they all got dressed up including her adorable nieces! They wore their flower girl dresses and sent a picture to Juliet—it was seriously the most precious thing ever!!!

A Romantic Winter Wedding | Durham Wedding Photographer

I had the honor of capturing Makayla and Conner’s GORGEOUS winter wedding in January! The ceremony took place at Emmaus Baptist Church in Pittsboro, and there were SO many sweet and tender moments throughout the day. One beautiful moment that stood out to me was when Makayla finished getting ready, and her mom went over to her to hold her hands, say a few words, and hug her (Makayla is the youngest of four siblings!). It is always touching to capture organic moments like this of a mama and her baby girl! I also loved capturing Makayla and Conner praying together before the ceremony. I remember it was such a sweet and raw moment for the both of them trying to hold back tears, but also smiling at the same time because of their excitement!

The ceremony was absolutely beautiful, and the portraits we captured afterwards were also amazing. I’m a huge fan of backlighting, so I was stoked to see clear skies and a beautiful sunset when I captured portraits of just Makayla and Conner! I seriously couldn’t stop taking photos cuz the lighting was absolute perfection! Once we finished, we headed to the reception at Pittsboro Roadhouse. One of the highlights for me was documenting Makayla and Conner’s first dance. They choreographed their dance, and it was seriously like watching Dancing with the Stars (it included a flip!). When the reception ended, we finished with an epic sparkler sendoff. The joy on their faces (as well as the guests!) was absolutely priceless! I also loved how Makayla and Conner took time to look at each of their guests to thank them as they passed by!

Enjoy my favorite highlights below! Congratulations, Makayla and Conner—may God bless you two and your marriage!
